(Tom Calarco) Some of the information I gave was from documents, and other information was from relatives and historians in the area. I was born and raised in Chester County and my maternal lines in Chester and Lancaster County, include those who were participants in the Civil War and the Underground Railroad. I am by know means stating that the whites involved were the leaders. The story I heard was that they were passing by and were asked for assistance by the slaverholders and Federal Marshall. However the area was a stop on the Underground Railroad, and Lancaster County was a stronghold for abolitionists (whites & blacks).
