Re: Ancestors of Harriet Tubman

VKN: I met Sidney Taylor sometime ago and became a member of the African American Historical and Cultural Society of Bucks County. Lately, I have been inactive due to my work schedule but hope to attend the next scheduled meeting next month. Sidney's mother, Evelyn Ross Taylor, passed away earlier this year. It was indeed a pleasure to hear her chronicle the events of her place of residence, Bristol Boro, PA, when she was a child. Her recollection was admirable. The VP of the the society videotaped her reading her memoirs about the early days of the locale. Thus, we have historically preserved a descendant of Harriet Tubman on video for others to see and hear! During March of this year, we had a very enjoyable luncheon at a near by country club to benefit the Harriet Tubman Memroial Statue Fund. The guest speaker was Rev. Dr. Herb Lusk, a former Philadelphia Eagle. One of our local African American artists, Mr. William Smith, is commissioned to sculpture the proposed statue. We all were given samples of what the statue would look like. It shows Harriet Tubman pointing to the North Star, which is also the name of our society's newsletter. Blessings
