Re: Ancestors of Harriet Tubman
In Response To: Ancestors of Harriet Tubman ()
The president of the local African American Historical and Cultural Society of Bucks County, of which I am a member, is a decendant of Harriet Tubman. We are currently trying to erect a monument in memory of Harriet Tubman at the Bristol Wharf which is situated on the Delaware River. Here are some genealogical mentions excerpted from the Bristol Pilot regarding the Ross family as written by her descendant, Sidney Taylor: "Did you know that she has family connections right here in Bristol (PA), and in Pine Hill, NJ only a few miles away?" My mother's father was Harriet Tubman's first cousin." "Verifying his lineage, my mother's (Evelyn Ross Taylor) father, Earl J. Ross documented in the family Bible, names, births and deaths, starting with his grandfather, Martin Ross and his father William Henry Harrison Ross and his siblings." Hope this sheds some light on the some of the other descendants. Doll Harris-Hargrove
