Just want folks to know about the Snow Camp
outdoor theatre in Snow Camp North Carolina and our production of Pathway to Freedom. It is an exciting account of the men and women who worked in our area against the enslavement of Africans. It tells of the early underground railroad work of Levi and Catherine Coffin (Born in Guilford, NC)and other slaves and free blacks who lived in the area. The rich and inspiring spirituals in the play create a crucial backdrop for Pathway to Freedom. For more info:www.snowcampdrama.com
While you are in our area you can research at the Friends Historical Collection. The Friends Historical Collection, located in Hege Library at Guilford College, is the center for the study of Quaker history in the Southeast, with particular emphasis on North Carolina. The collection is open to Guilford students and faculty, Friends, visiting scholars, and genealogical researchers. The collection includes the written records of Carolina Friends from 1680 to the present, printed and microfilmed copies of other Friends records, personal and family papers, the college archives, printed materials by and about Friends worldwide, and sources for the study of Quaker family history. Fergus Bordewich did much of his research on the NC Quakers at center for his book on UGRR Bound for Canaan.
