I doubt that Charles and Harriet knew one another. By the time he was born (free in Worcester County, MD) she was 30 years old and had already escaped slavery in Dorchester County. By the time he was an adult she was long settled in Auburn, New York. Charles Tindley's fame has nothing to do with Tubman, but rather his own path of faith and music in his own home town and church in Maryland.
