() Hello Kate: I was so pleased to read your first posting about Harriet Tubman and your book. I am also delighted that Afrigeneas (Bennie McRae) is hosting a web forum where we can discuss Tubman's contribution to the Civil War. I am sure that this site will become a centerpiece for discussing her incredible heroism. I have a research question that you may be able to answer. Not long ago I collaborated on a public relations project to promote a play, "In the Footsteps of Moses: The Story of Harriet Tubman", produced by Animated Theaterworks. In my research I read that Tubman received a silver medal from Queen Victoria. I contacted the librarian for the UK in New York who confirmed that Tubman received the medal, a "Silver Jubilee" medal. What couldn't be determined was why she received it. Could you shed some light? Thanks, K Wyer Lane
