I stumbled on this page by mistake, but am glad I did. I am from New York, and as far as I know of no relation to Harriet Tubman. I remember reading as a child that her mother was supposed to be set free by her Mistress. Since this never occurred, she remained in slavery, thus making her children slaves as well. Is this true?
