My sister and I were hoping to visit the Old Slave House this summer (2005). I was there about 10 years ago with my kids and found it to be quite interesting and compelling. Does anyone know the current status of the site? If it is still not open to the public, is it possible for people to drive to the house or see it at fairly close range? I'm assuming that this is really not an option anymore, but am of course hoping that it is.

I wish the state would realize what a historical gem they have there. Although the history is of course unpleasant, so was the Holocaust and people find ways to remember that. I feel that this is an important piece of history that needs to be remembered.

If anyone can provide me with an update, I'd very much appreciate it.
