The above is a list of UGRR Operators/Conductors of AA descent who were involved in the Underground Railroad as it ran through the counties of Champaign, Clarke, Hardin & Hancock in the state of Ohio.
These counties run from south to north along what is now US Rte. 68.

Wilber H. Siebert, renowned UGRR researcher and his associates indicated the AA's with an asterisk (*) preceding their name. Our research reflects those on this abstracted list, without the asterisk, are also of African Ancestry.

Direct family connections are Lewis Adams....Frank, Joseph & Lewis Reno in Champaign county, Levi Stanup in Clarke county, David Adams in Hancock county & Tapley Bray in Hardin county.

We have also documented through Census, Marriage, Birth/Death, Church and other record types the direct and collateral relationships found between these gentlemen. These relationships lead us to believe that the UGRR operation(s) may not have been as "loosely organized" as documented by some researchers.
