*** please look at the Ohio Underground Railroad Section. You will notice that Northwest Ohio DOES NOT have a presence on this list. This in another important reason why saving the Lathrop House on its’ original site is so important. Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan were extremely important points for the Underground Railroad. David Harroun’s farmhouse and barn were ONLY a few 100 years away from the Lathrop House. Both of them were Underground Railroad sites. This may be the closest example of “neighboring” stations left in the United States. ALSO, it would be nice to notice how WELL the other communities in Ohio preserve and feel about their historical sights AND if any of them were “moved” from their original location…and if so, how much it has affected the historical value of the site. PS – please notice the number of African-American museums in Ohio. Toledo does not have an African-American museum.
