Oh, and by the way, Beverly is not a historian, and she will be the first to admit it. She did not do the research like I have done, or like several other people have done. She wavered on many historical facts for some reason. Although you argue the Combahee Raid is not necessarily a proven fact, and she obviously agrees with you, there are many other historical research trails that Lowry decided to avoid rather than follow make definitive statements about. It is part of her "imagining" Tubman's life, not necessarily documenting it. Check out Jean Humez's book too. It is excellent. I don't remember Catherine Clinton's take on the raid, but I know she wrote alot about Tubman's Civil War activities, and it is her specialty, too.
