Re: Redman UGRR Operators - ADAMS line
In Response To: Re: Redman UGRR Operators - ADAMS line
() Nicole, So sorry to take so long to respond. While this is the same Henry Riffle, father of John Adam Riffle, same Henry Riffle who wrote the letter to Jacob Wilson (I believe you are quoting my notes on that although his spelling was incorrect addressing the letter to dear Uncle and Ant)etc. I have never seen any documentation as to who his parents were. The Samuel Riffle - Alice McHugh connection has not been documented by anthing other than circumstantial evidence to my knowledge and the first researcher to make this connection has never responded over the years to my repeated request for any documentation or even a good explanation of how she arrived at this information which is now repeated in many trees as fact. If you have any documentation on the Samuel Riffle connection please share it. I am also curious as to how Henry was related to the other Riffles in Greene County PA. I also would like to find some documentation that Henry Riffle's wife, Susannah (Susan)was the the daughter of Peter Keener and Susan Stewart. How would she be the only child of an heir at law of Abraham Adams as mentioned in the property settlement? Am I misunderstanding Susannah's relationship to Abraham Adams as his granddaughter? There was no will so Abraham did not name any heirs and all went to his widow and living children and Susannah, who were named in the property settlement. If you can shed some light on how you believe she is the sister of Oliver Keener I would certainly appreciate it. The documentation is there for John Adam Riffle and Harriet Samantha Adams forward - Harriet was the sister to my ancestor Hannah Nancy Adams Adams. Yes, Adams Adams. She was married to a first cousin andd I am descended from Jacob ADAMS and Archibald ADAMS twice through Archibald's sons William and Jonathan - perhaps a 3 time from Jacob through Jonathan's wife Margaret Ellen Adams Adams who was the daughter of Denton Adams and Lydia Dains. Denton Adams' parents are at this time unknown. Thanks for anything you can share, especially some documentation. You mentioned "Catholic Trails West: Founding Catholic Families of Pennsylvania" but don't say just what is found in that book. Jan - also descended from Jacob WILSON mentioned in your tree
