When I was a child growing up in Fort Edward, I was told that the home we lived in was formerly a stop on the Underground Railroad. Fort Edward is located on the Hudson River, about 50 miles north of Albany. I heard Judith Wellman speaking on the CSPAN program Legends and Lore of the Underground Railroad and I was curious about any link Fort Edward might have with this part of American history.
