I have a subscription to the New England Historical and Genealogical Society, and they have posted online the "People of Color Census" for 1855 and 1865. It can be searched by name, place of birth, Massachusetts city or town or county. By searching by name and birth state I have been able to locate several self-liberators from Maryland, specifically from Dorchester County where Tubman ran away from.

I would be happy to check names for those of you looking for people who may have settled in Massachusetts. The subscription is reasonable, too, if any of you are intersted, as they have lots of material posted online. www.NewEnglandAncestors.org
