Re: Don't Despair!

I don't remember reading that, Gwen, but I have only been frequenting AfriGeneas for several months, so have not been exposed to all of the accumulated wisdom of the years.
I will say, however, that whatever method I use to publish my family tree on the Internet, those trees do not contain personal information about living members of my family. My cousin and I once had a big disagreement over this, but I am firm on that.
The photos albums I created are there only because the kids wanted to see their photos on the Internet because all of their friends have their photos on the Internet in one way or another.
Concern about identity theft or other forms of information appropriation don't concern me because all of the information I have gathered comes from public documents that are readily available to, and accessible by, anyone. Not publishing my mother's name and vital statistics, for example, will not prevent someone from stealing her identity if they so choose.
Of course, as the disagreement I had with my cousin demonstrates, not everyone is of the same opinion.
