Re: What Genealogy Software Are You Using?
In Response To: What Genealogy Software Are You Using? ()
As a Systems Administrator for a couple of decades, I'm fluent with Macs, PCs and Unix, but when it comes to my personal computer, I'm a Mac Goddess all the way. That said, however, as much as I love Apple's operating systems and hardware, we Mac users are stuck with Reunion, which is, in my humble opinion, LOUSY!! But on the Mac side, we have so few choices and as bad as Reunion is, it's the best of the lot.
Yes, I know I could buy one of the new MacPros with the Intel processor and run Windows, which would allow me to use RootsMagic (my preferred PC genealogy program), but as a staunch dyed-in-the-wool Macophone, I just cannot bring myself to do that.
It's quite obvious that the people who wrote Reunion are NOT Mac users and we've been suffering for years. If only one of the other PC programs would port their program out for the Mac OS ... they could make a killing. And the worst part of it is that most Mac users, having no choice in the matter, actually think that Reunion is pretty good. That's only because they haven't taken the time to see what options are available on the PC side.
Venting ... I feel better now.
If only ..... sigh.
