Re: What Genealogy Software Are You Using?

I am somewhat new to research but I have been using RootsMagic Ver3 and what I can tell you about it is that I have found it fairly easy to navigate around in and I definitely like the source wizard that allows you to fill in a series of prompts and converts it into a citation.(This was helpful for someone who wasn't sure about how to make concise citations)

I would say that its not maybe as "graphically" appealing as Legacy or FTM, that is to say it looks spartan compared to those but again the features are enough to organize your data. The charts and reports are comparable to the others.

Also I should say i had a trial version of Legacy and perhaps it was overkill or too many options but i wound/wind up using Roots Magic.

What I would suggest since you have so much information already is to download the trial versions of the ones you are interested in and see which one works best for you.

The reviews can get confusing and again it is hard to tell whether a review is completely "unbiased" and again what might get a good review might not suit your style or level of technical expertise.

If you have specific questions about RootsMagic feel fee to drop me a line and ask away.
