First let me say that I have not had or heard of this problem but I know how frustrating it can be when you have a problem that seems to be affecting only you. Re-installing is drastic but it usually clears up most software problems. (I would have more likely used a system restore-point before I chose to re-install.) You do not provide much information. Does the same thing happen when you view images using Firefox ? What about images from HeritageQuest ? I normally google the web when I have computer problems ? I found the link below when I googled for "ancestry.com +freezes". I don't know if it will help or not.
