Someone who doesn't travel to Archives recommended this to me and it did sound like a great idea. But after you pack clothes, notes and limit what you can start carrying on to commercial transport, I just decided that a digital camera is the best buy. I have that and have used it, but I'll just have to make better use. Libraries limit what you can bring on site for research. Buying a 2nd hand, Hand held Scanner would be a waste of money. Although if they came out with something else smaller and less expensive I would look into it. I don't want a 'genealogy limited toy".
