![]() "We have all found directories like Cyndi's List to be valuable assets in our family research efforts. Unfortunately, these directories require lots of maintenance and since most of these are volunteer efforts, it can take weeks to get new sites included. Instead of complaining about the problem, why not become part of the solution. Today's technology gives all of us the ability to create and maintain a massive genealogy directory by doing something as simple as bookmarking a page. "Here's a quick example . . . Let's say you're looking for software to help with your research.
"What you see is a collection of bookmarks from the Diigo bookmarking site that have been saved with the "genapp" (short for genealogy application) tag. Anyone who uses Diigo to save a bookmark with the genapp tag will have their link included in this collection. You can click on any of the link titles to go to its page. Notice to the right that several have blue buttons titled Expand. These bookmarks have comments saved with them. Click on the Expand button and you can view the comments. "In the box to the far right you see additional tags with plus signs (+) in front of them. You use a Windows computer so you are only interested in Windows applications. Click on the + winapp
