Having Problems Viewing Text in Chatroom?
This may be an answer It appears as though Oracle's most recent Java update introduced a bug. The bug appears to mostly be affecting OS-X and Windows XP users, causing either an error message to be displayed or preventing the user from seeing text in the main chat display. The issue only seems to occur after a user has already loaded the chat room.
Earlier today we released a workaround patch for this bug in AddonChat in version 8.60.00.27. Initial testing on all platforms indicates that the latest release appears to have resolved the issue.
Users continuing to experiencing problems will need to empty their applet cache. This can be done in a number of different ways, though it's often easiest to simply shutdown all open browsers, then open the browser application again.
To empty the applet cache in Windows, while Java is running:
Right-click on the Java coffee-cup tray icon and select "Open 1.6.0_22" Console. Click on the console window and click the 'x' key. The message, "Clear classloader cache ... completed." will be displayed indicating that the applet cache is clear.
To empty the applet cache in OS-X, while Java is running:
Click the coffee-cup icon in the main menu. Select "Open Java Preferences" and click over to the "Network" tab. Click the "Delete Files" button ensuring that "Applications and Applets" is checked, then click "OK"
To verify that you're running the latest version of AddonChat, type "/info" (without the quotation marks) in the chat text input field, or open the Java Console. The latest version will indicate AddonChat v8.6.00.27.
