I think that your feelings are perfectly normal and I think you have plenty of company. By changing software you will lose a lot of productivity to essentially do the same thing because all of the keystrokes and techniques have to be re-learned to do the same thing you already know. It's a common issue in work environments as well, when software is significantly changed, experienced workers feel disadvantaged when they have to re-learn something they already know how to do. What I did, when I started using RM, was to do a new small project for a family member. In that way I was able to build my productivity to a comparable level before I messed with my existing family files.
