It's my understanding that Rootsmagic is slated to replace PAF, the LDS's own free genealogy program at some point in the future but Cynthia is correct that there is no requirement for users to share information with the LDS. not that there's anything wrong with that (just kidding). Anyway, I just downloaded the the free version of Rootsmagic4, Rootsmagic Essentials. It's excellent and best of all, it's free. What's missing from the full version is the ability to save reports (you can only print the reports)and the wall charts feature. Wall charts are great for reunions and special occasions but I've only just started using the feature on RM3 after more then a year of using RM3. I definitely recommend you give Rootsmagic Essentials a try.
