Re: IPod & NetBook & Genealogy
In Response To: IPod & NetBook & Genealogy ()
I understand the new Iphones have a genealogy application and I'm sure any of the OEM's netbooks should be able to run any genealogy application. It always depends on the operating system, memory available and storage space. I usually carry a 16 gig thumb/flash drive along with a sorted alphabetical listing of individuals with me. if the research site has pcs and allow you to temporally mount the drive it would be great. If the genealogy app is installed correctly, you can run the whole process from the thumb drive, using just the cpu of the onsite pc. Fortunately I have never had to use it. On my drive I carry PAF as my genealogy app and my gedcom and paf file of my current tree. I can mimic the setup of my home pc, with image media and other documentation. It only uses 1.6 gigs of the 16 gig drive. I prefer to manually type entries anyway. It helps me keep dups during "aha" moments of discovery to a minimum. Tyronne Messages In This Thread
