FTM & FTM's Family Archives CD's

Back in the 1990's when FTM was a Borderbund product in their Banner Blue Division they produced Data Indexes on CD's.

I still have several of those CD's and use the Marriage Index: Ohio 1789-1850 & 1851-1900 CD's.

These have been particularly helpful since the LDS Pilot site has put up Ohio Death Records from 1908-1953.

Many of the earlier death records have births stated as being prior to 1900 and reflect parents of the deceased.

I have been able to locate the marriage dates and locations for quite a few of those parents on these CD's.

I do have a concern tho' as to the continued value of these CD's. It appears the "current" developer of the FTM software package is either unaware of these CD's or doesn't see the value of continuing the interface of these CD's with the latest FTM packages.

The last version of FTM which allows you to view an FTM CD is V16/2006. Which is also the last version that allows you to create an FTM website.

Am I the only FTM user using these features? Or has FTM 2009 incorporated these features and I didn't get the memo?

Art Thomas

p.s. I just received an email that FTM 2009 has an update which allows for the creation of a "Book" following the V16/2009 procedures.
