I read through Angela's query and the many responses.

So I thought that everyone might be interested in the link below to Biz Reports discussion and research on social networks. I'm a subsriber because its focus is marketing. If anyone is interested in promoting their brand etc, this will be of interest to them.

Good news since the core audiences are described as:

"I admit, I was surprised to find that Facebook isn't the only social media that is attracting mums, dad, grandparents and, quite possibly, great-grandparents - it seems Twitter's maturing quickly, too. Recent figures from comScore show that folk in the 45-54 age range are 36% more likely than average to visit Twitter and that the majority of its 10 million or so users are aged 35 or over."

Good news since the age span mirrors somewhat...genealogy enthusiasts.
