I've tried several programs. I like Family Tree Maker since it was the first software that I used when it came out. It is compatible with most of the databases including familysearch which Leacy is now adding.

Tony Burroughs, past president of a genealogy group I belonged to, suggested the Master Genealogist as one of the best since it was developed by genealogists. It is an excellent software. There are several very good programs out there. I encourage the use of whatever program that meets your needs.

I don't know if I mentioned that I have been doing my family history research since 1973. I started before Roots came out and I didn't wear glasses when I started.
