The first AA State Senator, George Wallace, 30, mulatto is listed on the very next page after Allegra Slater, 37, mulatto w/ three young mulatto children. George is married to Hernietta. He moved to Macon and remains married to her until his death. Peter O’Neal was a mulatto who went into the House of Representatives at the same time but he was not a senator. He was a very vocal Activist for Civil Rights and an active member of Flagg Chapel.
We will keep each other posted on George Wallace research. I wonder if the second family influenced the move to Macon. Uhmmmm! It something to research.
Sincerely,
