[CA] COMPOSER SHELTON BROOKS - "SOME OF THESE DAYS" ...
GIFTED COMPOSER OF THE EARLY 1900S -
MOST FAMOUS SONGS: "SOME OF THESE DAYS" AND "DARKTOWN STRUTTERS BALL."
My great-grandmother (Evangeline Smith) and Shelton's mother (Laura Smith Brooks) were sisters. He was born in Canada and died in Los Angeles, California approximately 1966. He had one son, Shelton, Jr., who was married to Betty. They had one son: Kevin Brooks (who in 1996 was a L.A. disc jockey).
Singer Sophie Tucker made these songs famous and she also named her 1945 autobiography "Some of These Days" - in it telling of her first meeting with Shelton and how she felt when she first heard the song.
