8) looking for cuzzins related to Harriet Vance bn 1856 Johnston SC and husband Henry Pinkney bn 1843 NC. Their surname were found spelled many different ways in the census from 1870 70 1910.
PinCkston. PinCkney. Pinkney. On their childrens death certificates in diffterent states the letter 2 spellings may be what u see. I have found Pinkney the last spelling without the 'c' to mainly used. We must remember people of color did not choose their own spellings because they were not allowed to read r write for many years.

Henry and Harriet were married in 1876 Johnston SC . They had 9 documented children.....

John 'Bud' bn 1877
Eva bn 1877
Mary L bn 1878
Elbert bn 8 Aug 1880 d. 8 Feb 1967 Fulton Ga. married to Mary Nelson (no documented Children. His surname was spelled Pinckney on d/c)
William Sr. bn 1884 d. 11 Jun 1932 Fulton Ga marr. Earlena Coggins
Sallie bn 1890
Charlie bn 1892 b. 1916 Johnston SC
Julia Pinkney (Wilson) bn 20 Apr 1894 d. 6 Feb 1965 Asheville, NC
Ella Pinkney was bn 1897 marr. to Moses Jones in Johnston SC.Moses worked as a blacksmith with Ella's father in Johnston SC. They had 2 sons. Willie P Jones and Henry P. Jones. By 1930 Moses and Ella were divorced. Moses had moved to Chatham, Ga and was working, documented as a blacksmith for a pvt riding school.

I have not been able to connect with any known Pinkney descendants. Each person whom I thought was a cousin has said they were concerned with their immediate family and had no knowledge of their grgrandparents. If there was a SC connection, they had no info to guide them to whom r what info there might be to connect the dots. It is really frustrating. There is a lot of history in the VANCE line to share.

I have found information for Adelaide, Lucy, Francis, Elbert, James. I am still trying to find BECKIE AND HARRIET's heritage. From these people' born to them r Diplomats, Senators, Doctor's, Journalist, Great Caddies, Ministers and just common people you would be proud to know.

You just never know who we r kin to. But then again I don't really care if they r famous in order for me to feel you r my 'blood'. Do U?

Would like to know my south Carolina roots. Compare notes. I don't want to collect dates and names. That's what newbies do.
