Thanks for this. Maybe I should have given a little bit more in debt info. I don't know if these ancestors owned the blacksmith shop. It did not say. I know for many years they worked in it as a trade. I am hoping that anyone who may be doing research or still live in the area can help me find information about the men who were blacksmiths in Edgefield and Johnston SC between 1870 and 1910. The Jones surname is so very generic, I am trying to just stay with the 2 I have stated. By 1920 they had migrated to Chatham Ga and still stated their occupations were blacksmiths. Moses for a pvt school. I don't know where Washington worked. Just trying to find descendants. Chatham was a town full of JONES surnames.
For a skill like blacksmith, it is a possibility they probably left remnants of their artistry.
