My name is Lillian Barnes and I am trying to research my husband's
family. They know very little about their ancestors, but here goes.
My father-in-law was Noah Lewis Barnes he was born in Bertie County in
1900. He had several siblings, but the only ones known to me are Elliot,
Justis and Chaney. He married Mamie Jackson born 1900 in Va. They had 8
children, Ethel,Noah Jr. (aka Boo), Marie, Curtis, Ella Rose, James,
Pricilla Ann and Thomas. They lived in serveral places including
Windsor, Ahoskie, Enfield, Tarboro, and Scotland Neck, NC. and Richmond,
Va. Also looking for info on a John Barnes he was Contractor-Mason who
built the AME ZION church in Wilson along with other building in eastern
NC.
