Great observations from both of you! I never paid any attention to the initials "S. U" at the bottom of the 1928 photo. I check and there is a Meridian State University, so I have written to the librarian and attached a scan of the photo.

As for the older photo, I do see a resemblance and will see if I can find photos of Ms. Brown as a younger woman. The trick, then, would be to figure out what my father or his parents would have her photo.
