For those who are not aware of it, FamilySearch has made their entire collection of North Carolina Probate Records available online for free. They contain images for most of their counties, the will, estates, inventories, and various other court documents in association with probate. The Collection is currently not indexed, that means, not searchable through their search engines, so one has to go through the Will Books individually; most of the Books do contain a name index in the first few pages, so that is helpful, too.
