I actually was sent the obit from a friend who found it in the Altoona Mirror in Pa when it was listed when she died in 1909. I didn't find any census on her in regards to her death outside of that. The only person it states she lived with before marrying into my family on her obit is listed as a Bryson Smith. It did not state if it was in Pa or In Va. She then lived with a Rev.John Fiddler who came up with a group of African Americans at the same time from Va., which was in the Bedford, Pa newsletter(1906) listed as slaves or free slaves and all ended up residing within the Blair Co/Hollidaysburg, Pa. So far I haven't found anything stating she was a free person. No mention of a mom/dad's name either.
