[SC] SLAVE RESEARCH OF EDGEFIELD
In Response To: [SC] Edgefield ()

I keep posting this because those of you who are doing research in SC should either order your own or have your local genealogy library to order it. A black lady, Gloria Ramsey Lucas, took 6 years to pull information about all slaves from ALL documents of slaveholders in this community. Over 23,00 slaves. Quite a few were purchased and relocated to other states such as Georgia and Virginia. This is a book designed for those of you who have done extensive research of ancestors. Beginners won't be happy. There is no table of contents.
Slaveholders names are listed alphabetically
Slaves names ARE NOT listed alphabetically
The year of ownership and purchased dates or included.
This goes from the 1700's to 1865. There were also slave purchases in 1865. Look through this book. I found ancestor's not under the surname we knew but a totally different name. Make sure you read the introduction.
I had to go page by page line, but I found my GGGrandma Adelaide.
