I am a member of the SC Genealogy Society. I MUST SAY THIS HERE --I am not soliciting anyone to join or purchase any items from them. I read in the News Booklet there are 2 books for sale that might be of interest to researchers.
1. News of Colored People
2. Slave Records of Edgefield Co.
I mention these books because I think it might open up some doors or knock out some bricks in this wall.
I have no idea what can be in the second book, but because it is described as 'extractions' of ALL slave names found in, wills, inventories etc.--anything that had to do with ownership by the owners, it just might be something I need to cram into my book case. The enormity of this work just is so mind boggling. I need to get rid of some of these other books
.
Because these are newly printed they won't be on line or at the library. Go to the OLD EDGEFIELD DISTRICT GENEALOGY internet site to get information. When I decide to order, this will be one book I don't share. Sometimes people will not take the care of books that they didn't purchase. They said the cost for the 2nd book with shipping is $56.
