Quite a few years ago, I went to Monroe County on my own. I don't know what posessed me to do so other than one day at work, I believe the ancestor's were talking to me and let me know, I would be ok.
The Mississippi people are different to me. Some are very friendly and open as well as helpful. Other's are-'What do you want'- if you know what I mean. It was always too quiet. I can't explain it any other way. I got what I could and left. Did I tell you I had to drive from that little airport, through Columbus Ms to Monroe. I look back and realize, that won't happen again. I sort of remember the highways having very few cars. Just different from big city life I was used to.
Now I go to the State Archives wherever I need to search. Larger populations and more information available. Better hotels. Check them out, if you decide to travel. Some community libraries, because of room, may not have a lot of information.
