Recently, I've begun doing a small amount of research on the Carter surname in Wilkinson. I've haven't had the chance to dig very deeply into the county but I was surprised to find that some of the wealthier famiies there had close ties to wealthy Louisiana river parish families. I looked at some of the slavery material that ancestry.com recently posted but am nowhere near ready to use any of that information.
