My experience in researching my FPOC ancestors is not to look specifically for AA records, but rather the records of the time and locations where they resided. They are in those records and may not be identified as AA.

By example, here is the deed of conveyance for property purchased by an FPOC 4th great-grandfather, Lewis Adams, in 1829. Notice there is no reference to "race" in this property transaction.
