Thanks for the followup on Mendenhall's who remained in NC.

Filed in the Logan County, Ohio Probate Court are Freedom Registration Papers for former slaves of George & Delphina Mendenhall who were manunmitted and removed from Guilford County, NC ca Jun 1855. They are filed as Emancipation Papers pp. 141-147.

Below is an abstract, listing the names and other information, of those emancipated. The abstract is from "Register of Black, Mulatto and Poor Persons in Four Ohio Counties 1791-1861" - Joan Turpin, Heritage Books 1985. The four Ohio counties invovled are Clinton, Highland, Logan & Ross.

Surnames later associated in Ohio with these former Mendenhall slaves are Armfield, Depp, Jackson, Scott & Warner.
