My father, Robert Queen worked for the 'Black Press' for more than 50 years. He was editor and/or managing editor for all of the Black newspapers mentioned; (The Philadelphia Independent, The Philadelphia Courier,{Branch of Pittsburgh Courier}, and The Philadelphia Afro-American). I believe you can find copys of them at the Philadelphia Library. He left Philly in 1968 to become Managing Editor of the New Jersey Afro-American, a job he held until his retirement in 1988.
