Re: [IL] Civil War Soldiers
In Response To: [IL] Civil War Soldiers
() Hi Ed, I will be giving a presentation as Frederick Douglass on Feb 26 in Elk Grove Village, IL. 2011 is the 150th year since the start of the Civil War, the War that was fought to abolish slavery in the U.S. Three men from Elk Grove served with the 29th USCT, Infantry. John Bird, Jesse Chester and James Hunter. I am looking for any information that I can find on these troops. Since learning about my G-G-Uncle David Cole who served with the 55th Mass., I have been dedicated to study and preservation of the history of the USCT. I also have pictures of the Civil War grave stones of those who are buried in the Lakeview Cemetery in Saline Co., IL. [Wm. H. Broadey 28th USCI, Oliver Russell 28th USCI, Levi Barrett 123rd USCT and Henry Bivens 100 USCT].
