Thanks for sharing that link--very interesting reading! I became interested in Edward Coles and his slaves after reading a marker at an old school house when i was working in Edwardsville IL. I even went so far as to do a bit of research into the slaves he manumitted. I'd have to look but I think I have the names of his slaves somewhere in a file drawer. I recall posting them on a forum long ago in the hopes of finding possible descendents but never had any contact.

I hope you are able to prove a relationship between your family and Charles and Maria Adams. Good luck!
