I am researching Bessie Iv(e)y. the census stated that she was born in NC. G g grandma Bessie b. 1830, d. before 1900 m. gg grandpa Essex Mathews b. 1829 d. after 1900 in NC.

I am not sure what year they were married. I have not been able to find anything on her before the 1870 Census. This family was stated as Matthis and Mathis in the 1870 and 1880 Census.
Someone on this WEBSITE helped find out this information about the name change and census data.

All the information that I have is after she married gg grandpa Essex.

Can some help me found out more about g g grandma Bessie or steer me in the right direction to get this information? Both died before death certificates were issued in NC.
