Re: [MS] Jones, Ausburn, Teacher
In Response To: [MS] Jones, Ausburn, Teacher ()

It's unclear exactly what you are looking for. If you are seeking an account of his activities in Alcorn County, this may be a case where you have to look at the local county historical society at least as a place to start. I see someone has already identified all of his census records from 1850 thru 1900. You're fortunate that he returned to Ohio in 1900 because researching deaths in Mississippi can be difficult. It looks like he was raised and probably married in Ohio. Someone over at the FPOC forum may have some knowledge of his family in Ohio. I agree with you that it's unlikely there would be any information at Alcorn State U since it's located in SE Mississippi and Alcorn County is in far NW Mississippi. It's unlikely the Memphis Library would have anything on Ausburn and why he came to Mississippi. Just a few thoughts.
