BET featuring local comedian Steve Brown
You can tune in to BET’s “Comic View" at 9 p.m. or midnight today to see Tuscaloosa comedian Steve Brown all over the stage. It’s rumored he’ll be jumping, flipping and anything else you wouldn’t expect to see from any other comic.
Born in Los Angeles, Brown was raised in Tuscaloosa by his grandparents, the late Rev. Frank McMullen and Lucille McMullen.
He attended Stillman College, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in broadcast communications.
He has been showcased on Russell Simon’s Def comedy Jam (one season) and has been on BET’s “Comic View" for eight seasons.
Brown has taken his act across the nation to many colleges, including the University of Alabama, Mississippi State University, Southern University and University of Minnesota.
He has performed at a variety of clubs, including the Virginia House of Comedy, Uptown Comedy Corner, Zanies, most of the Improvs and the Bronner Brother International Hair Show (2002-03). He also has worked with artists such as TLC, Goodie Mob, Outkast, Phil Perry, Glen Jones, the Barkays, Roger and Zap, Cedric the Entertainer, Anthony Anderson, J. Anthony Brown, DL Hughley and Ricky Smiley.
