Hi,
I have started a private group page at Facebook for those involved in genealogical research at Ocean Springs, Mississippi and surrounding areas where... In 1850, there were approximately fifty-three individuals held in servitude while the 1870 census tell us the number of freed persons was fifty-eight. Between 1870 and 1900, Blacks or African Americans would represent 26% of the population or 331 persons.
Ocean Springs at one time classified as a small village is where many of our ancestors would marry into other families within the village and surrounding areas, they worshipped together, attended school together, owned property, businesses and were a part of the village’s leadership and social life. As seekers and keepers of our family’s history... let us help, each other tell their stories. Join us, share your successes and brick walls, your tributes, and tears because...
