While researching for family in our primary
state - SC. I started to explore the neighoring
states, the border counties. When I ran
across this:
- The year 1910
- Hyde Co. NC, Currituck Twp.
- Census page # 12-A
- As listed - Convict Camp
- David H. Carter-Supt.
There are 70 prisoners
- 13 are said to be black
- 57 are said to be mulatto
Ages range from 17 to 65
Is it just me, or is this normal for the time?
Basically a mulatto prison.
