I have found it to be somewhat helpful. Many of my ancestors do not have the surname of their last slaveholder. So I focused much of my attention to researching plantation owners. Some of the owners listed in these records and most of the jurors named are plantation owners I am researching. Their families include some of my family’s surnames. To name a few:

James Stuart – Rocheland Plantation. His father and brothers spell their name as Stewart.

James Surget – Cherry Grove Plantation.

Col. Wood – (James Gilliam Wood, Sr.) Auburn (Auburn Hall) Plantation.

Ed Adams
